“When you make a commitment to a cause it is a binding pledge that you will dedicate yourself 100% to ensure the success of the cause.”
Failure to meet your commitment is not an option
Bob Rebello – just an ordinary guy
Dear [fname],
I am approaching the end of the 11th year of my 13-year commitment to bring awareness about kidney cancer around the world by finishing marathons on 7 continents. During that time, with the help and support from people like you, I have raised $70,121.20 for kidney cancer research, received 926 donations from 25 US States and 1 foreign country, finished marathons in 11 countries and on 5 continents, put in close to 22,000 training and marathon miles, flown 126,856 miles, my monthly e-mail newsletter goes out to 30 US States and a number of foreign countries, and my website has received visits from 40 US States and 49 foreign countries.
Much has been accomplished over the last 11 years - but if I am to meet the commitments that I made on 5/23/1999 I must complete the following milestones over the next 26 months:
- Raise $29,878.80 to reach the goal of $100,000.00 for kidney cancer research.
- Finish my last 2 marathons in Africa 2010 [6th continent] and Antarctica 2011 [7th continent] at 74 years "young".
- Bring kidney cancer awareness throughout the United States by receiving donations from all of the 50 US States.
I am very confident that over the next 26 months, with your continued help and support, we will raise the final $29,878.80, I will finish marathons on the final 2 continents, and we will bring awareness about kidney cancer to all of the 50 US States.
50 US States Kidney Cancer Awareness Challenge:
One of the challenges that we will have over the next 26 months is to bring kidney cancer awareness to all of the 50 US States. If we are to meet this challenge we need to receive donations from the 25 US States that have not donated. I believe the challenge will be met if each of us contacts someone they know in the Red states and let them know about the efforts that we are making to help in finding a cure for this deadly disease. To help me track our efforts I have brought back my copyrighted cartoon of my "USMC Boot Camp Drill Instructor" — he is retired now so he no longer wears his uniform. He will be standing guard every month until we meet the challenge - he will smile once we meet the challenge.
The 25 US States that have not donated are in RED.
The 25 US States that have donated are in GREEN.

I would not be able to publish my monthly newsletters without the very creative Graphic design work of Christian Riggs, President of Riggs Creative Group. Christian has not only given his time and design expertise to the newsletter but he also designed and maintains my website.
Listed below are my corporate sponsors who have generously donated their “Best in Class” products and services to help me meet my mission. Without their generous support it would be very difficult for me to continue my mission.
Have a great day,
Bob Rebello
