“Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which
difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish.”

- John Quincy Adams

Dear [fname],

ThermometerI have some good news and some not so good news to report ñ the good news is that I met my last Stockholm marathon training program milestone by finishing my last long run of 22 miles on May 9th and I am now in my 3 week taper before the Stockholm marathon on May 30th. The not so good news is that I have Achilles tendonitis on my right heel - the injury is a common and frustrating cause of heel pain in runners. The injury is not a disabling injury but because of the injury I will have to lower my expectations for my personal finish time goal for the marathon. My commitment will still be the same for my donors ñìI will finish the Stockholm marathon in a respectable time by running all 26.2 milesî. I am looking forward to the challenge of finishing my 11th worldwide marathon, at age 73, to raise money for kidney cancer research.

Although these are difficult times I am very optimistic that with the continued support and encouragement of people like you we will meet this yearís donations goal of $10,000.00 for such a very worthy cause. As of this date we have raised $2,441.20 for the Stockholm marathon and we now only need to raise $2,558.80 to reach our next donations milestone of $70,000.00. Our 10 ñyear total raised for kidney cancer research is now at $67,444.20 and during the 10-year quest to raise money for kidney cancer research I have received a total of 899 donations from people living in 24 U.S. states and 1 foreign country. We are only 101 donations away from reaching our next donations milestone of receiving 1,000 donations. I am confident that with your help we will reach the 1,000 donations milestone this year.

For your information I have broken down the Stockholm, Sweden marathon for kidney cancer research donations by the month they were made.

Inspirational Donor Story:
For the last 11 years of running marathons around the world to raise money for kidney cancer research I have had the privilege to receive numerous inspirational stories from people who have donated to kidney cancer research. This monthís inspirational donor story is about Olivia who recently donated $50.00 that she had won in a raffle. Instead of thinking about how she would spend the money on herself Olivia thought of how she could use the money to help others who are suffering and need help - she decided to donate the $50.00 to kidney cancer research.

What is so inspirational about this story is that Olivia is only 8 years old.

What’s New?
My website has been updated thanks to the creative graphics design work of Christian Riggs. You will now be able to go to my website and see the latest donations totals as I will be updating the donations as they are received. When I return from Stockholm you will be able to go to my blog to learn the details of the marathon as well as see the photos that I took while in Stockholm.

People suffering with kidney cancer need your help. You help them by donating to kidney cancer research now.

Worldwide Marathons Donations Sources:

US Map of States DonationsAs you can see from the 1999 to 2008 donation sources we have now brought kidney cancer awareness to 24 US states [green] and 1 foreign country. We recently received a donation from the great state of Minnesota, which brought the total US states that have donated to 24. To help bring awareness to the other 26 US states [red] and as many foreign countries as possible I would greatly appreciate it if you would forward the newsletter to family, friends, and people you know who live in those states. This is a great opportunity for us to let people throughout the US and around the world know about the efforts that are being made to find a cure for kidney cancer. We are close to coloring all of the New England states green, we only need donations from the states of Maine and Vermont. If you know someone in those states please forward the newsletter to them so that they can become a part of this very worthy cause.

Napolitano GMAC Real Estate in Coronado
Bob Rebello is an amazing person! I first met Bob in 2000 in my running group, and got to know him well during many post-run breakfast conversations. I also learned about his charity work to raise money for kidney cancer research, by running marathons worldwide. I have never met anyone so focused and committed to a goal before. I know in my heart that Bob will achieve his goal of 14 marathons and his fundraising goal of $100k!! I own Napolitano GMAC Real Estate in Coronado, California. We service all of San Diego County. We can be reached at Napolita@san.rr.com or www.napolitanorealty.com.
I am proud to sponsor Bob and his charity, and to help arrange for him to speak at various service clubs.

I would not be able to publish my monthly newsletters without the very creative Graphic design work of Christian Riggs, President of Riggs Creative Group. Christian has not only given his time and design expertise to the newsletter but he also designed and maintains my website.

Listed below are my corporate sponsors who have generously donated their “Best in Class” products and services to help me meet my mission. Without their generous support it would be very difficult for me to continue my mission.

Have a great day,
Bob Rebello
