Dear [fname],

Berlin Marathon Donation Update:Thermometer
As of this date we have raised $4,761.00 for the Berlin marathon and we only need to raise $3,288.00 over the next 4 months to surpass last years Buenos Aires total donations of $8,048.00. With your continued support I am very confident that we will meet this years goal to surpass last years total donations. Because of the generosity of the hundreds of people who have donated over the last 10 years we have now raised a total of $60,884.00 for kidney cancer research at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical center in Boston, Mass; in memory of my brother, and best friend, John. For your information I have broken down the 2008 Berlin, Germany marathon for kidney cancer research donations by the month they were made.

Berlin Training Update:
The Berlin marathon is only 33 days away and I only have 3 weeks left of hard training before I start my 3 weeks of recovery and refueling before the marathon. During the 3 weeks of hard training I will continue my weekly training program of 6 days of running, 3 days of weights, 1 day of Yoga, 1 day of Pilates, and 1 day of rest. Over the next 3 Saturdays I will complete my last 3 long runs of 20, 12, and 20 miles – can’t wait to finish the last long run. I am confident that on marathon day I will be prepared to meet my commitment to my donors that I will finish the Berlin marathon, my 10th worldwide marathon, by running all 26.2 miles as fast as my 72 year old legs will go.

My Website Blog Update:
My worldwide marathon Website Blog is now operational and I have added my USMC and Dublin marathon stories to the Blog. My worldwide marathon stories will be featured in the book that I am writing about my worldwide marathon adventures. I look forward to reading your comments concerning my stories – to read my Blog please click here.

My Sponsors
Each month, starting in the July newsletter, I will be featuring one my sponsors who have over the years generously donated their “Best in Class” products and services to help me meet my goal to raise $100k for kidney cancer research. Without the yearly support and commitment from my sponsors I would find it very difficult to meet my mission. I encourage you, and all of my supporters, to take the time to learn more about my sponsors and their great products and services.

Worldwide Marathons Donations Updates:

US Map of States DonationsAs you can see from the 1999 to 2008 donation sources we have now brought kidney cancer awareness to 23 US states [green] and 1 foreign country. We recently received a donation from the great state of Nebraska, which brought the total US states that have donated to 23 – thank you to the donor from Nebraska. To help bring awareness to the other 27 US states [Red] and as many foreign countries as possible I would greatly appreciate it if you would forward the newsletter to family, friends, and people you know who live in those states. This is a great opportunity for us to let people throughout the US and around the world know about the efforts that are being made to find a cure for kidney cancer. We are close to coloring all of the New England states green, we only need donations from the states of Maine and Vermont. If you know someone in those states please forward the newsletter to them so that they can become a part of this very worthy cause.
